Large international institutions fund the education of their personnel in our center. Since its creation, CERIS trained more than 3,000 diplomats, senior officials and private company officers working in an international environment. Over the years, CERIS developed a network of international experts, diplomats and senior officials, enabling us to be in ongoing contact with high level competence people and hence, to solicit high quality information with high added value associated for our teaching and condulting expertise. CERIS is a center of excellence whose reputation has passed the test of time, yielding it recognition as the Diplomatic School of ULB and Brussels, capital of the European Union. CERIS is also emerging as a catalyst for interdisciplinary and inter-university platforms bringing together international experts and universities of global repute.
CERIS objective is to promote knowledge dissemination, research and post graduate training in International Relations and development. To this end, CERIS also intends to enable multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary studies as well as the evaluation of short- and mid-term International Relations and development currents. The institution is a place for open thought, analysis and study. Also, it is an idea incubator enabling people from the world of politics, diplomacy, European institutions, international organizations, NGOs, science, University and journalism, to meet and exchange their viewpoints in colloquia and round tables. The association guarantees instructional freedom and the freedom of opinion for all its members and speakers.
The education that Ceris provides is distinctive in two aspects. Firstly, it offers a very high level of university education. The quality of the education owes much to the team of guest lecturers. Over the years, Ceris has developed a network of top international civil servants and scholars belonging to institutions renowned for their excellence. For this reason, it boasts a first rate academic team that few universities would be in a position to offer. Each year, the Executives Masters courses are run by eighty world experts. The Executive Master in International Politics program is notably supported by key experts from such academic institution as the London School of Economics and Political Science – LSE (London), the Universities of Oxford, Cambridge, Warwick, King’s College (London), Institut d’Etudes Politiques (Paris), Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies – IHEID (Geneva), Université Paris IV Sorbonne, Université Paris V Descartes Sorbonne, Université Paris III Sorbonne-Nouvelle, American universities, such as Johns Hopkins, UCLA or Harvard. The Executive Master in Development Policy program is notably supported by key experts from the School of Oriental and African Studies – SOAS (University of London), Transnational Institute (Amsterdam), Erasmus University (Rotterdam), Institute of Social Studies – ISS (Den Haag), Manchester Metropolitan University, University of Limerick, CITY University of London, University of Birmingham, University of Goettingen (Germany), Royal Holloway (University of London), the London School of Economics and Political Science – LSE (University of London), Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies – IHEID (Geneva), Free University of Amterdam, University of Neuchâtel, Harvard and Princeton universities. tt
from The second education feature lies in CERIS’ international audience. Those following the course come from around forty countries. Two third are from European Union member states or applicants’ countries, with the third coming from north and south America, Sub-Sahara Africa, South and East Asia. Around 80% of them have a professional occupation. They are mainly Brussels based diplomats, EU or NATO officials, corporate executives and journalists. We should add that each year CERIS reserves several places for fresh university graduates who are destined for international careers. Candidates are sellected based on their academic qualifications and their experience. The academic board therefore applies equal importance to the CV of the candidates as to their educational background. The majority of the participant registering on courses have a degree in politics, economics & business administration, law, modern languages or journalism. However, any university degree is considered provided it is accompanied by work experience in an international environment.
